The annual Gusher Marathon will begin and end at the Lamar University Montagne Center on Saturday, March 8. The Gusher is expected to last from 7:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. The course circles Lamar University, proceeds along MLK Parkway to College Street (HWY 90) and winds through downtown Beaumont.
There will be several streets barricaded along the route, and traffic will be detoured. Barricades will start going up as early as 4 a.m. on the Saturday, and we anticipate downtown traffic resuming by 1 p.m. The full route along MLK Parkway should be open by 2 p.m.
- Beaumont Transit will suspend city bus service during the marathon
- Employers with locations affected by the closures should notify employees, and ask them to adjust their route accordingly
- For unrestricted access to downtown areas east of MLK Parkway, we recommend the Pennsylvania Street underpass at MLK Parkway. The Park Street underpass at MLK Parkway is available for leaving that area.
