This morning at approximately 3:08 a.m., Beaumont Police Officers conducted a traffic stop of a white Dodge Caravan in the area of the 3200 block of Corley. The suspect vehicle disregarded and continued at which point, the suspect driver exited the vehicle while it was still moving. Officers pursued the suspect, during which the suspect fired a round from a handgun. The suspect then discarded a mask, gloves, and a hooded sweatshirt that he was wearing while officers were pursuing him. No officers were injured during the incident. K-9 officers responded and ran a track locating the suspect hiding in a dumpster in the 2700 block of S. 8th Street where he was taken into custody. The handgun has not been located at this time as officers are canvassing the large area to recover it.

The suspect was identified as b/m, Kaderyan Colbert age 17, from Houston. He is being booked in for Evading in a motor vehicle, Evading on foot, unauthorized use of motor vehicle, and Aggravated assault of Public Servant.
