At around 3:15 AM on Saturday, 12/19/2015 Beaumont Police officers observed an ongoing domestic disturbance while attempting to stop a vehicle which was being driven erratically through the parking lot of the Speedy Stop at Major and College. The vehicle driver attempted to get away from police and drove out of the parking lot at a high rate of speed. The vehicle was abandoned by a single suspect. Officers where able to capture the fleeing suspect after a short foot chase.
During this time, officers had also received a call of shots fired in the area. One officer was approached by a female subject who said the subject is related to her. She said the suspect had called her and made death threats. When she left her residence to avoid contact with the suspect, he found her in her vehicle in the area of Phelan and Todd, where he got out of his vehicle and fired several shots toward the victim’s car. She drove away toward Major and College followed by the suspect, which is where officers got involved with the suspect.
Officers were then able to locate the handgun the suspect had discarded when he first saw the police at the Speedy Stop.
The suspect was arrested for Evading Detention, and a charge of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon is pending.
Suspect: Jasmine Handcock 27 year old male.
