Just before 6:00 AM, 5/03/2016, Beaumont Fire Rescue firefighters responded to a structure fire reported at the apartments located at 4905 Wyatt Street. When firefighters arrived, there was heavy smoke showing from one apartment. Firefighters were able to make a quick attack and confine the fire to one room of the affected apartment. The occupant of the apartment was not at home at the time of the fire. Several other nearby residents were evacuated for about an hour while the fire was controlled and smoke removed. They were then allowed to return to their apartments. There were no injuries. The fire appears to have been caused by an electrical short. Red Cross was called to assist the one occupant who was displaced by the fire.
