At approximately 1:20 AM, Beaumont Fire Rescue units responded to a reported structure fire at the Alabama Garden Apartments, 1095 Alabama. When firefighters arrived they found flames coming one downstairs apartment at one end of the building and several occupants trapped on the second floor landing at the other end. Several firefighters immediately began rescuing the trapped occupants while others began fighting the fire at the opposite end of the building. Occupants of eight apartments were evacuated without injury.
The fire appears to have originated with a stove fire. There was fire damage to two apartments with smoke and water damage to several others. Red Cross was called to assist the displaced occupants.
There were no injuries to any firefighters.
