Treyvon Eugene Cunningham
On 9/25/14 at about 7:30 a.m., Patrol Officers responded to 2455 Commerce St. the Ridgewood Church of Christ, in reference to a possible theft of copper in progress. Officers arrived and developed information about the possible location of suspects. Due to the recent large numbers of metal thefts in that area, Detectives and Special Assignment Unit Officers responded to assist with the investigation.
Officers eventually located two suspects at an apartment complex in the 2500 block of Sweetgum. Officers also located several items of evidence at the apartment complex. Officers took the two suspects in custody and transported them to the police station for statements. During the statements, the suspects confessed to several local metal thefts. With the assistance of an Investigator and an Assistant District Attorney from the Jefferson County District Attorney’s Office, this arrest and investigation will lead to the clearance of 73 different incidents of metal theft in our city.
The suspects, 20-year-old Treyvon Eugene Cunningham and 19-year-old Justin Ray Book, both of Beaumont, were booked into the county jail for two counts of felony metal theft.
