Beaumont Animal Care Needs Your Help in Locating Suspects That Left Six Kittens to Die in a Kitchen Garbage Bag
September 11, 2019
Beaumont Animal Care received information yesterday morning, that six kittens had been abandoned beside a drainage ditch around the 1300 block of Lindberg in the city’s west end. That was not the worst part, Animal Care then found out that kittens had been left tied up in a 13 gallon, kitchen garbage bag.
Animal Care Manager, Matthew Fortenberry, stated that a concerned citizen had been out walking his dog Tuesday morning and the dog found the bag of kittens lying by the ditch. “Mr. Robert Coates, who lives on the street was horrified and pulled the kittens out of the bag and brought them to us at the shelter.”, stated Fortenberry.
Under Texas law, animal cruelty is a state jail felony that may include jail time ranging from 180 days to 2 years and a fine up to $10,000. Fortenberry encourages anyone that may have information on who the kittens belonged to and who may have abandoned them by the road to contact Beaumont animal care at (409)838-3304 or Crime Stoppers at 833Tips.
For more information or directions to the shelter, call (409)838-3304 or visit the city’s website at www.beaumonttexas.gov .
