At 07:59AM, Beaumont Firefighters were dispatched to a residence on Barton Lane, this was in response to a 911 call fire dispatchers received from a resident of this address reporting he had possibly been exposed to some form of white powder. Two occupants of the residence, a male and female were told to shelter in place as a precaution. After units arrived on scene, Beaumont’s Hazardous Material team was activated. Once they arrived on scene, the occupants were escorted out of the residence by Hazardous Material personnel and decontaminated at the scene, again as a precaution. The occupants were transported to a local hospital for medical examination and observation. The material was taken and secured and will be tested by qualified medical personnel. Health Department officials, Beaumont Emergency Operations Official and Beaumont Police were also on the scene. City of Beaumont Heath Officials will inform the occupants of the residence of results, once testing is complete. At this time the residence is secure and there does not appear to be a public health threat.
