On Wednesday,  May 10, 2017 at about 3:00 a.m.,  Beaumont Police attempted to initiate a traffic stop on a White Dodge Charger in the area of Harrison and Forrest. Upon Police initiating their emergency lights, the driver of the Charger, later identified as Jacoby Dejei Griffin, a 25 year old Beaumont man, accelerated and fled from Police. Griffin evaded Police before crashing his vehicle into a building in the 800 block of Gulf Street. Griffin then fled from the vehicle on foot. Responding patrol units quickly established a perimeter and K-9 Gus and his Handler arrived to assist. K-9 Gus and his Handler successfully tracked Griffin and located him hiding underneath a parked vehicle, in the 1000 BLK of Hazel. Griffin was found to be in possession of crack cocaine. Griffin was arrested and booked into the Jefferson County Jail for Evading Detention in a Motor Vehicle & Possession of a Controlled Substance.

This was K-9 Gus’ 7th successful Felony Apprehension so far this year.
