On Wednesday, October 26, 2016 at about 8:30 am, Beaumont Police responded to the parking lot of Home Depot, located at 3910 Eastex Freeway, in reference to a Theft. The officer completed a report for theft of copper wiring from the back of vehicle in the parking lot. A witness came forward and gave the license plate of the suspect vehicle. Officers located the suspect, Jerome David James, a 58 year old Beaumont man in the 1100 block of Cottonwood, however James fled the area on foot. A short time later, James was apprehended near Live Oak and Grand. Further investigation revealed that James was in possession of the stolen copper wiring, prior to fleeing on Cottonwood. Detectives believe that James may have committed additional auto burglaries as well, due to other stolen items being located with the copper wiring. James was placed under arrest and transported to the Jefferson County Jail were he was booked in for Felony Theft and Evading.

We want to thank the citizen who observed this crime, was able to obtain the license plate information, and was willing to report what they witnessed.  This lead to the capture of the suspect and will help solve other crimes.
