Monday, August 1st, 2016, at 3:42 AM, officers responded to an alarm at Dugood Credit Union (1795 N. Major Dr). Upon arrival officers observed an ATM lying on the ground, approximately 50 feet west of where it had been anchored. A witness approached officers and said a smaller U-Haul box truck knocked the ATM off the base and then pushed it into a nearby patch of grass. The suspects were unable to open the ATM or load it in the U-Haul. They left the scene south on N. Major Dr. Video surveillance showed two black males dressed in dark clothing committing the act.
A Jefferson County Deputy located the vehicle in the area of Walden and IH-10 S. The Jefferson County Deputy and BPD patrol officers tried to stop the suspect vehicle and the driver fled down Walden, to IH-10 S, to Clearwater Ct. The vehicle traveled east on Clearwater Ct and ended at a vacant field. The suspects abandoned the vehicle and ran into the woods. K-9 Officers conducted a track and located one of the suspects. ( Leonard Jamard Hall- 39 year old Beaumont man)
JCSO deployed Air 1, but officers were unable to locate the second suspect. The U-Haul was reported stolen in Beaumont.
Hall was transported to Jefferson County Correctional Facility and booked in for Felony Theft charges. Detectives will continue to take statements and investigate this incident.
