On Wednesday, January 3, 2018, Beaumont Police Detectives received a tip that Jody Bass, a 28 year old Beaumont Man, was driving around the South end of Beaumont. Detectives wanted to speak with Bass because he was a witness to the Anthony Green homicide and he had an active Jefferson County Warrant for Felon in Possession of a Firearm. Bass and another unknown black male were spotted in a vehicle leaving Amigos Food Store in the 1600 block of College St. When Officers attempted to stop the vehicle, Bass fled from Officers until eventually abandoning his vehicle near Fannett and 4th Street, and fleeing on foot. After a multi-agency response, to include Beaumont Police K-9, Port Neches K-9, Jefferson County Sheriffs Office, and U.S. Marshals, Bass was located in the area. At this time, we do not believe that Desmond Bennett was in the vehicle with Bass. Desmond Bennett still has an active Jefferson County Warrant for Murder. Anyone with information on Bennett’s whereabouts is asked to call Beaumont Police at 409-832-1234.
