On Thursday, February 13, 2020 BPD Narcotics Officers were working directed patrol in the area of Irving and Washington. At 4:07 p.m., Officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a black BMW, however the driver fled from officers traveling north on Irving then turning east onto Lamar street. The driver eventually stopped the vehicle in a vacant lot in the 1100 block of Lamar, and fled on foot. Officers pursued the suspect, later identified as Jehkenae Antoine, a 26 year old Beaumont resident, who was carrying a backpack. With the assistance of additional Officers & a K-9, Antoine and the backpack were located at a residence in the 1900 block of Schwarner. The backpack was found to contain 43 grams of suspected ecstacy and a handgun.
A subsequent search of the vehicle revealed a quantity of suspected marijuana, approximately 224.8 grams of Promethazine and a box of ammunition.
Antoine was placed under arrest for Evading in a Motor Vehicle, Evading on Foot, Unlawfully Carrying a Weapon, Possession of Dangerous drug, and Possession of a Controlled Substance. He was then transported and booked into the Jefferson County Jail.
