On Tuesday, February 5, 2019 at 9:27 a.m., Beaumont Police responded to a residence in the 2500 block of Milam in reference to a Victim of a Shooting. When Officers arrived, they detained a subject matching the description of the shooter given by the caller. Evidence on scene indicated that the crime had occurred, however the victim was not located. A short time later the victim arrived at a local hospital with a gun-shot wound to the hand. She reported that she had been shot earlier this morning, between 2 and 4 a.m.. She further reported that the suspect, identified as 48 year old Morris Joseph Broussard, refused to let her seek medical treatment, holding her at the location against her will and sexually assaulted her multiple times. The suspect was taken into custody and transported to the police station to speak with Detectives prior to being transported to the Jefferson County Jail. Broussard was charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon, Aggravated Kidnapping and Aggravated Sexual Assault.
