Thursday, August 31, 2017 at approximately 3:26 AM officers responded to the Travel Inn located at 2690 I-10 East in reference to a welfare check. Upon arrival, they located a white female with a gun shot wound to her head. The suspect was located shortly after we received the call. He was identified as Leroy Jackson, 23 year old Beaumont man. Jackson was arrested for Murder and transported to Jefferson County Corrections Facility.
The victim was identified Taylor R Matte, 17 years old Beaumont woman.
