The Beaumont Police Department and Beaumont Animal Services are teaming up with Crime Stoppers to combat animal abuse and animal neglect.

Animal abuse is a cruel crime that not only affects the animal, but could lead to other and more serious crimes by the assailant. The approach is simple, but the investigative part will need to involve community members helping us to stop this abuse. Together with crime stoppers, tips can be received anonymously without risk of being identified.

The Chief will designate a detective to investigate these crimes along with animal services. We are going to prosecute this aggressively, as much as the law allows.

We are reorganizing and enhancing Beaumont Animal Services, and fighting animal abuse is a top priority. We have unit that is responsible for caring and adopting out animals in our custody, while the other unit is strictly tasked with proactively investigating animal abuse complaints. By dividing the two units we feel that we will be more effective in protecting the animals and providing a safer environment for our citizens. Having Crime Stoppers on board with Beaumont PD will give citizens a way to report animal cruelty and abuse anonymously and you could be eligible for a reward up to $1,000.

If you believe an animal is being abused or neglected, please take action and call Beaumont Police, Animal Services, or Crime Stoppers.
