On Thursday, September 25, 2014 at 12:09pm  Officers responded to 216 Liberty, (a vacant building) in reference to a burglary in progress. A witness observed a black male and a white male entering the building through a broken window, on the north side of the business in the alley way. Upon arrival,  officers detained Eric Jackson, a 43 year old Beaumont resident,  as he was exiting the alley. Officers also discovered the point of entry and that a window was open on the second floor, with copper wires on the ledge. A shopping cart was positioned in the alley and it appeared that the thieves were in the process of removing the wires. Additional units responded and a perimeter was established around the building. Officers then searched the building, with the assistance of  a  K9 officer and his  partner. A second suspect, Timothy Wright, a 42 year old Beaumont resident, was discovered hiding in a second floor bathroom stall. Nearby, additional copper wires, that had already been placed in large bags, and cutting tools were discovered.  Wright and Jackson were arrested and transported to the station to be interviewed by detectives. Wright and Jackson were transported to Jefferson County Jail and booked in for Burglary of a Building.
