On Thursday, August 6, 2015 at 11:50pm, Officers were in the area of Center and Ashley and attempted to stop the driver of a 2002 Yamaha Motorcycle. The driver refused to stop and led officers on a brief pursuit. The driver was traveling east on the IH10 Service Rd, ran the red light at MLK and struck a 2005 Tan Yukon. The motorcycle driver was transported to St. Elizabeth’s Hospital by EMS and was pronounced deceased shortly after arrival. There were six passengers in the Yukon, a mother and 5 children. They had non-life-threatening injuries.
The crash is still being investigated. The fatality victim is a 28 year old white male from Vidor. We will release his name later today.
