On Sunday, January 27, 2019 at 12:37 a.m., Beaumont Police responded to 810 S. Major Drive in reference to a victim of a shooting. When Officers arrived they located a victim in the parking lot suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Witnesses told Officers that the suspects left the scene in a white Dodge Charger. While working that scene, Beaumont Police received another call of a victim of a shooting at a residence in the 8200 block of Lawrence Drive. When Officers arrived on that scene, they discovered that the victim had just arrived back to his residence in his white Dodge Charger. Officers quickly linked the two calls together. Multiple witnesses were transported to the station to give statements. Preliminary investigation has revealed that the two gunshot victims were gambling over a dice game when a disturbance ensued. During the disturbance, one of the victims attempted to retrieve a handgun from his pocket but lost control of it. The second victim picked up the handgun and attempted to use it on the other person. At that time, another person stepped in, with another handgun and fired several shots striking both victims. The investigation is still ongoing. One of the gunshot victims was treated and released at a local hospital, the other is still admitted with non-life threatening injuries.
