On Thursday, March 22, 2018 at 8:46 p.m., Beaumont Police responded to the 400 block of Dowlen Road in reference to a major crash. Witnesses advised that the vehicle was traveling eastbound in the 6500 block of Lexington Drive, traveled through the intersection across Dowlen Road into the Westmont parking lot, and impacted the concrete column in front of Talbots clothing store.
The driver was transported to a local hospital, however, the front right passenger, 86 year old Bernice Waddell, died at the scene from her injuries. The crash is still under investigation.
