On Saturday, April 11, 2020 at 3:17 a.m. Beaumont Police responded to the area of IH-10 and College Street in reference to a silver Nissan traveling the wrong way on the interstate. A short time later dispatch received a call of a major crash in the 2600 block of IH-10 E in front of the Merit Inn, involving the Nissan and a silver Subaru SUV. Preliminary investigation has revealed that the Nissan was traveling Eastbound in the Westbound lanes of IH-10 E, when it collided with the Subaru. When officers arrived, the driver of the Nissan was unresponsive and later pronounced deceased by Beaumont EMS. The driver of the Subaru was transported to a local hospital with major injuries. The deceased victim has been identified as 27 year old Breanna Wright of Beaumont.
