Thursday, January 26, 2017 at 6:12 p.m., Officers responded to 3020 Gulf Street (Gulf Street Liquor Store) in reference to a robbery of the business. The clerk told dispatch he shot the suspect. Upon arrival, Officers located Arthur Thomas, 35 year old Silsbee resident, outside of the store with a gunshot wound in his front lower torso, below his belt.
The clerk told officers that the suspect was in the store several times earlier in the day causing trouble and making threats.
The clerk said Thomas entered the store at 6:11 p.m. and demanded money. The clerk shot the suspect and he ran out of the store.
Thomas was transported to the hospital with non life threatening injuries, treated and released.
Thomas was also in possession of suspected PCP. Thomas was arrested for Public Intoxication and Possession of a Controlled Substance and booked into Jefferson County Correctional Facility.
The Robbery charges are still under investigation and will be filed at a later date.
