On Friday July 1 at 10pm, the Water Utilities Department will partially lift the boil water notice for areas affected by the North Major Drive (between Gladys and Folsom) valve replacement project.

Please see the attached map. For the area outlined in RED, these residents should have water service by 10pm, however for these residents the boil notice will remain in place until Saturday. The city will notify residents when the boil water notice has been lifted for the area in RED (the Cottage Grove subdivision is the main area located within the RED boundary).

For the areas outlined in YELLOW, the boil water notice will be lifted today at 10pm and residents in these areas should have normal water pressure.

The city has been taking and testing bacteria samples on this line since the start of the project; all bacteria tests have come back negative. When the boil notice is lifted at 10pm, residents in the YELLOW area should have no problems with their water service.

Although this project has taken longer than originally expected, the city has worked very closely with our contractor to complete the project in a safe manner. Multiple variables, including the heat under which the contractor had to work, negatively affected the timeline on this project.

You can send questions to the city’s Facebook page and the city will attempt to respond in a timely manner. https://www.facebook.com/beaumonttx
