On Wednesday, July 31, 2019 at 12:00 p.m., The Beaumont Police Department, along with Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) and United States Attorney’s Office will hold a joint press conference to provide information on thefts of firearms from vehicles.
Chief Singletary, AFT Special Agent in Charge Fred Milanowski, and United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Texas Joseph Brown will give statistics on the frequency of this crime, discuss a recent investigation involving a stolen firearm used in a crime, and provide useful information on how to avoid having your firearm stolen. In addition, the National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF) has donated 200 gun locks to BPD to be distributed to area residents at upcoming community events.
