At 8:20 P.M. on 6/18/2016, Beaumont Police Department’s patrol officers were dispatched to the 1900 block of Gilbert Street, in reference to a car wreck. As officers arrived, they discovered a black Chevy Tahoe, driven by a Hispanic Male, which left the roadway and struck a telephone pole, thus causing it to collapse. The black Tahoe continued on its path, crashing into a white van, causing the van to be pushed into the side of a white Tahoe. Fire and EMS personnel were able to get the driver of the black Tahoe out of the vehicle, and upon pulling him out, discovered a gunshot wound to his torso. The gunshot victim was subsequently transported to a local hospital where he unfortunately succumbed to his wound. Detectives are currently determining the circumstances of his gunshot wound. The deceased male’s name will be divulged after his next-of-kin has been notified of his passing.
