Wednesday, January 21, 2014 at 8:38pm officers responded to the Family Dollar, 6010 Hwy 105, reference to a possible robbery.
The assistant manager told officers 2 black males, one wearing a black jacket with a hood and black pants, the other wearing a grey hoodie, both armed with handguns and wearing some form of mask, entered the store, gathered up all the customers inside at gun point and forced them to the front register area. One of the suspects jumped the counter and made the assistant manager open the safe. He took the money, an assortment of tobacco products and money they demanded from customers and left.
The first officer on scene observed the two suspects fleeing west on foot. The suspects continued north through a back yard in the 5900 block of Marcus. Responding units set a perimeter and numerous K9 Officers responded. During the track, K9 discovered clothing and a handgun. The other handgun was recovered inside a discarded black jacket.
After an extensive K9 search, the suspects were not located.
There were a total of 6 people that were inside the store, the assistant manager, another employee, three adult women and a man. No one was injured during the incident and it was captured on video.
