Houston Man Arrested for the Murder of Derrick Allen Phillips
Tuesday, January 6, 2014 at 4:42pm Beaumont Patrol Officers responded to a 911 call at a house located in the 1300 block of Central Drive. The caller told dispatchers he woke up from a nap and found his roommate, 27 year old Derrick Allen Phillips, in the house, unresponsive and bleeding profusely. Officers arrived and found that Phillips was deceased. Officers also found a quantity of narcotics in the residence.
Judge Ken Dollinger ordered an autopsy and cause of death was a gunshot wound to the head.
BPD Criminal Investigations Unit took statements from witnesses and found out 33 year old Adam Emanuel Fuller met Phillips a few days before Phillip’s death . Fuller was reported to be the last person to see Phillips and had left town.
Detectives worked with Jefferson County District Attorney’s Office and filed Felony Theft charges on Fuller. On Tuesday, January 20, 2015 at 12:30pm, the U.S. Marshall’s Office used their resources to help locate Fuller and arrest him at a Hilton Hotel in Kema,Texas. He was arrested for the Felony Theft warrant and a Parole Violation Warrant. He was arraigned by Harris County Magistrate Holly Williamson and transported back to Jefferson County. Fuller spoke with investigators and gave a confession regarding Phillip’s death.
Fuller was transported to Jefferson County Jail and booked in for:
Theft- SJ $150,000 bond
Capital Murder $1,000,000 bond
Parole Violation- no bond
