Beaumont Police Department’s Patrol Officers made an arrest in the 2200 block of Gulf Street shortly after 7:00p.m. in the north end of Beaumont.
Officers were dispatched to the Family Dollar store in reference to multiple suspicious people in the parking lot. Upon their arrival, the officers quickly detained two of the people involved. As the officers were speaking to the third person, 35 year old Juan R. Romero, he sat inside of his vehicle. Officers recognized the scent of marijuana coming from the vehicle, and upon asking Romero to step out, Romero became belligerent and attempted to back his vehicle away from the officers. Once the officers got Romero to stop his vehicle, they placed him in custody for Resisting Search. Romero was found to be in possession of several grams of methamphetamine, in addition to hydrocodone pills. Romero was arrested for Resisting Search and for Possession of a Controlled Substance, and subsequently booked into the Jefferson County Jail.
