BPD Traffic Unit Investigating a Fatality Crash- 5000 block of S. Major Drive

Monday, April 9, 2018 at 10:15 pm, officers responded to the 5000 block of S. Major Drive in reference to a major crash involving a passenger car and a motorcycle.  During the initial investigation witnesses said a silver passenger vehicle was traveling south bound in the inside lane of Major Drive when a motorcycle,  also traveling south bound, impacted  the car from behind at a high rate of speed.  This caused the car to spin around several times while traveling approximately 100 yards before coming to a complete stop. The motorcycle and its operator came to a stop approximately 25 yards from the car. The driver of the car, a 19 year old  Beaumont woman, was not injured. The motorcycle operator, Cody Ray Kendrick, a 20 year old Beaumont man, was pronounced dead at the scene.
