On Wednesday, March 27, 2019, a BPD Burglary Detective was contacted by a victim whose residence was burglarized earlier this month. The victim advised that her stolen property was listed for sale on Facebook. Detectives acted quickly and were able to intercept the purchase of the victim’s stolen laptop. The suspect, Deandre Phifer (a 20 year old Jasper resident) and his girlfriend, Demarriya Tims (a 20 year old Weirgate, TX resident) arrived at the meeting location on bicycles. Phifer had the computer, which was confirmed stolen by the serial number. It was also learned that the bicycle operated by Phifer was also stolen from the same burglary. Both Phifer and Tims had outstanding warrants out of Jasper for theft and were placed under arrest. Further investigation lead to the search of a residence in the 8000 block of Gladys where additional stolen items were recovered. Detectives were also able to identify two additional suspects in the burglary and charges are pending against them. Phifer and Tims were transported to the Jefferson County Jail where they were booked in for Burglary of Habitation, as well as their Jasper warrants. Detectives believe this group may be responsible for multiple burglaries of buildings, habitations, and/or motor vehicles in the area.
