This morning around 3:39 a.m., Beaumont Police Officers received an alarm call at Jakes Liquor located at 2968 S. 4th Street. Officers quickly responded and observed the suspect crawling through the damaged front door of the business holding items from inside the store. The suspect ran and entered his vehicle prior to officers detaining him. The suspect then fled as officers pursued him.
During the chase, officers were able to safely deploy spike stripes forcing the suspect to pull into a driveway in the 600 block of Goodhue. Officers then placed him under arrest.
The suspect was identified as: Tomas Moraida, age 47 from Beaumont.
Moraida was transported to the Jefferson County Jail and booked in for Burglary of Business and Evading in a Motor Vehicle.
