We are pleased to announce the promotion of Captain Jim Clay to Assistant Chief.
Asst. Chief Clay began his career with the Beaumont Police Department in September of
1984. He promoted to the rank of Sergeant in 1988 where he served as both a supervisor and investigator.
In 1993, he helped create the Auto Theft Task Force where he served as commander until his promotion to Lieutenant in 1996.
As a lieutenant he served both patrol and investigation division until his promotion to Captain in 2011.
He was the administrative Division Commander for 2 years and has served the last 2 ½ years as the Criminal Investigations Division Commander.
Assistant Chief Clay is a graduate of Lamar University with a Bachelor degree of science in Criminal Justice. He is also a graduate of the Leadership and Command College at Sam Houston State University, and the FBI National Academy in Quantico, Virginia.
Assistant Chief Clay will be available this morning between 9 am to 10 am for interviews at the Beaumont Police Department.
