On Thursday, 1/28/2016, at 2279 Evalon, a structure fire in a garage apartment resulted in one fatality. The identity of the victim was not released pending notification of the family.
An investigation into the cause of death and the cause of the fire was conducted by police detectives and fire investigators. Judge Dollinger ordered an autopsy.
On Friday, 1/29/2016, the autopsy confirmed the identity of the victim as Deashanae Shabritteny Moore, age 23. The family has been notified. The preliminary cause of death is determined to be carbon monoxide poisoning from smoke inhalation. The death has been determined to be accidental.
The cause of the fire has been determined to be a space heater in the bedroom. The fire is also determined to be accidental.
