Yesterday afternoon around 3:26 p.m. Beaumont Police received a call in reference to an auto theft of a blue infinity SUV in the 1500 block of Orange St. While enroute officers were advised that the victim’s 3 year old child was in the back seat of the vehicle.
Officers scrambled and located the vehicle less than 8 minutes later at the corner of San Jacinto and Forsythe. There was no child found inside the vehicle at this time. At approximately 4:00 p.m. Officers were advised that the child was located in the 600 block of Ave C. It appears that the suspect let the child out in this area before fleeing and abandoning the vehicle at San Jacinto and Forsythe.
Officers searched the area throughly and were unsuccessful in locating the suspect.
The Beaumont Police Department is asking for the public help in identifying this auto theft suspect who placed this child in grave danger. We are also reminding the public, do not leave your kids in your vehicle unattended with the keys in the ignition. It only takes a second for the unimaginable to happen.
