The 45th class of the Tri-Agency Citizen’s Police Academy will begin at the Beaumont Police Department on Thursday, January 28th at 7:00PM. This academy is free to anyone 18 or older who lives or works in Jefferson County, or surrounding areas. It is provided by law enforcement agencies to increase public awareness and understanding of what their police officers do, think, and feel, and why they do what they do.
Classes are on Thursday evenings from 7 to 9:30PM, for 14 weeks. Additional classes in tactical driving and a day at the shooting range will be on different Saturdays for total of 16 classes. All course instructors are police officers with years of experience in their fields. There will be classes in Police History, Criminal Investigations, Sex Crimes, Juvenile and Family Law, Use of Force, K-9, and SWAT, and much more.
There are still openings available, and anyone interested can apply on line at www.beaumontpd.com, and look for the “Community” button, or just come on out on Thursday night and fill out an application at the door.
