The Solid Waste Division currently provides one container per household, at a fee of $16 per month. Each additional can is $4 per month. The Solid Waste Division spends an average of $15-$20 per 90-gallon container for preparation and delivery. The costs include labor, fuel, and sanitizing the container. Customers who would like additional containers will be charged a one-time fee of $20 per container to reclaim those costs.
The prep and delivery fee will be effective for all additional containers requested after Jan. 1. There are several ways to request an additional container:
- Call the Solid Waste Division at 409-842-1483 to request a faxed container request form.
- Pick a form in person at the Water Customer Service Department, located in City Hall, 801 Main St., downtown. You can also pick up a form at the Solid Waste Division, 4955 Laffin Road.

Changes to the ordinance governing trash containers are effective Jan. 1.
