Virginia Hartley Jordan, born in Santa Monica, California and raised in Cortez, Colorado, has lived in Beaumont for 25 years. She worked in various capacities for Total Petrochemicals, Inc. during her 30 year career. The last 10 years she was a Process Coordinator, overseeing maintenance prioritization for 27 process units in the Refinery, being the first woman to ever hold that position. After retiring in 2014, she opened up an antique shop on Calder Avenue in Beaumont.
Virginia has served on the Board of the Oaks Historic District Neighborhood Association nearly since its inception in 1993. She has always been a fierce advocate for preservation of Beaumont’s history and its historic structures. Her devotion to quality of life enhancement is easily seen in the many projects she has supported throughout her tenure with the neighborhood association.
Virginia has served as the Volunteer Coordinator at Catholic Charities, is a member of the Beaumont Heritage Society, is a 23 year volunteer for the Humane Society of Southeast Texas, and worships at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Beaumont.
