Christopher S. Boone, AICP, is the Interim City Manager and Director of the Planning & Community Development Department for the City of Beaumont, Texas.

The City Manager is the Chief Administrative Officer for the city and is responsible for  managing all activities and operations of the city; coordinates programs, services, and activities among city departments and outside agencies; ensures the financial integrity of the organization; represents the city’s interests; and provides administrative support to the Mayor and City Council.

The Planning & Community Development Department is responsible for planning, zoning, building codes, code enforcement, economic development, downtown redevelopment planning, housing and CDBG or federal block grant fund programs.

Chris came to the City of Beaumont in 2006 after serving as the Public Works Director for the City of West Orange, Texas for four years and as the Deputy Director of Land Use Administration for the City of Mobile, Alabama for six years.

Chris has a master’s degree in Urban Planning from New York University and a bachelor’s degree in History from the University of Alabama.

Chris is married to Rebecca Boone, a Professor of History at Lamar University and has two children, Lucy and Helen.
