On Thursday June 30 starting at 8pm, the Water Utilities Department will conduct a valve replacement project on a 24 inch water line on N. Major Drive between Delaware and Village Dr. The maintenance is expected to last until 10am the following day.

The city is planning, prepping, and working to minimize service interruptions during the valve replacement project. During the project some customers in the affected area may experience water pressure that is lower than usual and some customers may be out of water entirely. The attached map shows which areas will be out of water at the start of the project (please disregard any previous map you may have seen).

Out of an abundance of caution and to stay in compliance with TCEQ requirements, the boil water advisory notice issued on June 22 will continue to remain in place until the valve maintenance project has been completed. During this time, the City is advising customers to bring their water to a rolling boil for at least two (2) minutes prior to using it for eating, drinking, or making ice. Water can still be used for washing clothes and bathing.

During the valve replacement project, Delaware St. from Wilcox to Valmont, will be closed to thru traffic and only available to local traffic. The street closure will coincide with the valve replacement project and be closed from Thursday, June 30 at 8pm until Friday, July 1 at 10am.

This valve replacement project is a normal part of utility operations. At no point during the valve replacement project, either this week or last week, was the integrity of the water distribution system at risk.
