Detectives are working to determine the identity of two men responsible for killing a man in a robbery attempt at a west end convenience store.

At about 12:17 am this morning, Patrol Officers responded to a hold up alarm at the Pick N Shop located in the 800 block of S. Major.  When officers arrived, they found the 52-year-old clerk dead from an apparent gunshot wound.

Detectives were able to view store video surveillance and at this early point in the investigation, it appears that at about 12:13 am, two men armed with guns entered the store and attempted to rob it.  The clerk resisted and retrieved a bb gun and pointed it at the robbers.  One of the robbers then fired a shot that stuck the clerk.  The two robbers then fled on foot heading west on Landis.

The first robber appears to be either a black male with a light complexion, or a Hispanic male.   He wore a bandana to cover his face and some type of gloves.  The second robber had his face completely hidden and wore a light blue backpack.

Detectives are asking any person with information about this crime to call Crime Stoppers at 409-833-TIPS.  You will not need to give your name and if your information leads to the identity and arrest of the men responsible for this capital murder, you will be eligible to receive a cash reward of up to $1,000.
