If you are interested in becoming a vendor with the City of Beaumont or are a current vendor seeking to obtain your MBE certification, please review the information below.

In an effort to build a strong business relationship with our vendors, the Purchasing department has put together a vendor application packet which contains several documents and helpful tips to become successful in doing business with the City of Beaumont. Please take the time to review all information in the packet below, and fill out as much information as possible to expedite the process. Thank you.

New Vendor Application

Q. What is required to do business with the City of Beaumont?
A. A Vendor Information packet must be completed and forwarded to the Purchasing Office. Then your company name and products and/or services you provide will be added to the City’s database.

Q. Is there a fee to submit the Vendor Information packet to the City?
A. There is no fee to provide the vendor information packet to the City.

Q. Are there any special requirements for working with the City?
A. Yes. If you are providing a service that requires you to work on City premises, i.e., construction, grounds maintenance, demolition, etc., you must provide proof of liability insurance, workers’ compensation and automobile liability insurance before beginning work. Insurance requirements are available in the Purchasing Office or included in bid specifications.

Q. How does the City obtain their list of vendors to contact with bid solicitations?
A. The Purchasing Division maintains a list of vendors classified by the type of products or services they provide. If a company has provided a vendor application to the City for the product or service to be solicited, and the database prints out their information, the vendor should receive a copy of the bid solicitation. However, it is the vendor’s responsibility to monitor the Bid Opportunities on this site.

Q. Do I have to be on the City’s vendor list to respond to a bid?
A. You do not have to be on the City’s vendor list prior to respond to a bid.

Q. How long does a vendor remain on the City’s database?
A. Vendors are removed from the City’s database if past performance has been unacceptable, or if mail has been returned with no forwarding address.

Q. How do I bill the City for products and/or services provided by my company?
A. Invoices must be submitted to the following address:

Q. Should I collect sales tax from the City of Beaumont?
A. No. The City of Beaumont is tax exempt and the Purchasing staff can provide your company a copy of the tax exemption certificate.

Q. Does the City of Beaumont give preference to local vendors?
A. The City of Beaumont has a local bidder preference policy that can be located on the website at www.beaumonttexas.gov. In addition to meeting the definition and requirements of local, the bidder must complete a form to be considered for the preference. The form is included in bid packets when applicable.

Q. How do I become a Minority Business Enterprise (MBE)?
A. If you are an MBE firm and wish to be recognized as such with the City of Beaumont, you must complete and submit the required MBE forms available on this website.

Q. Is there a fee to provide a Minority Business Enterprise (MBE) application to the City?
A. There is no fee to provide a MBE application to the City.

Q. What is the City’s policy concerning the award of bids to minority businesses?
A. The City is governed by State law which prohibits preferential treatment in the award of bids. The City makes every effort to notify vendors of bids including forwarding all bid notices to the Golden Triangle Minority Business Council for distribution to their members. The overall goals for the City of Beaumont’s MBE program participation for construction contracts exceeding $50,000 and for professional services agreements exceeding $25,000 is twenty percent (20%), on an annual basis. This is only a goal.
