At about 9:29 p.m. last night, Patrol Officers responded to a reported shooting at the Lancaster Cornwall Apartments located at the corner of Dowlen Rd. and Phelan Blvd. When officers arrived, they found two 18-year-old brothers suffering from non-life threatening injuries they claim occurred in an alleged robbery attempt.

According to one of the brothers, he heard something at the door and when he went to open it, three men entered the apartment. Two of the men brandished handguns. The men then robbed the two brothers of an undetermined amount of cash. During the alleged robbery, the victims resisted and a struggle ensued. During the struggle, the suspects pistol-whipped one brother about his head and shot the other brother in his neck. The suspects then fled on foot in an unknown direction.

Christus St. Elizabeth ER personnel treated and released both brothers for their minor injuries.

The brothers gave very limited information about the suspects. They described the suspects as three black males, all wearing dark colored hoodies, dark pants, and cloth covering their faces.

Evidence found in the apartment lead detectives to believe that this incident may have been a drug transaction gone awry.
