A 43-year-old Beaumont woman was emotionally shaken and suffered minor physical injuries when a man tried to drag her into shrubbery as she was on her morning jog.

The woman was jogging this morning at around 4:30 a.m. along the 4900 block of Delaware Street.  As she approached some shrubbery, a man accosted her from behind, grabbed her, and attempted to drag her into the bushes.  The woman fought ferociously and during the extended struggle, she may have bitten one of the man’s fingers.  A passerby witnessed the struggle and stopped to assist the woman.  The suspect then fled on foot heading east on Delaware Street.

The woman described her attacker as a black male, about 5’08”, with an average build and medium complexion. He was wearing a dark-colored leather-type jacket.
