Detectives are working to determine the circumstances surrounding the death of a man in the south end of town.

At about 1:06 a.m., January 19, Patrol Officers responded to a reported shooting that occurred in the parking lot of the convenience store located in the 500 block of West Florida.  When officers arrived, they found the victim inside a car.  He was unresponsive and bleeding from wounds to his head.  Beaumont EMS arrived and pronounced the man dead.

Officers spoke with witnesses who said that the victim was a passenger in a car that stopped at the convenience store to meet up with the drive of another car.  When one of the men in the group went into the store, two other men approached on foot and began firing guns at the two remaining.  The witnesses described the suspects as two black males, both wearing dark colored jackets and jeans.    All this information is preliminary and Detectives are in the process of interviewing the witnesses to verify and attempt to corroborate their stories.

Updates on this investigation will not be available until sometime after noon today.
