Detectives are interviewing witnesses and searching for leads in a shooting that resulted in the death of a 28-year-old Beaumont man.

At about 10:01 p.m. Patrol Officers responded to a reported shooting inside an apartment in the Timberlake Courts Apartments located at 125 Interstate 10.  When officers arrived, they found the 28-year-old man dead with a possible gunshot wound to his chest.

Detectives interviewed witnesses who said that several men entered the victim’s apartment and after a brief confrontation, shot him once.  The men then fled on foot in an unknown direction.

Witnesses gave very limited information on the suspects describing them as five black males with one of them having a light complexion and an afro.  Detectives are working to determine what, if any, prior relationship existed between the victim and suspects.

Release of the victim’s name will be withheld pending notification of his next of kin.

Updated information will be available no sooner than 10:00 a.m. tomorrow morning.  All official updates will be released only through department Public Information Officers.
