BPD Detectives are asking for the public’s assistance with information on the October 18 Homicide of 57 year old, Billy Hayes. Witness information has indicated that a black male, possibly driving a silver, older model SUV left the area of the scene, traveling West on Elgie. Anyone in the area with surveillance cameras are asked to check footage between the hours of 11:00 p.m. Friday night to 12:30 am Saturday morning, for anything that could assist with the investigation.

On October 18, 2019 at 11:49 p.m., Beaumont Police responded to a residence in the 600 block of Elgie in reference to shots fired. When Officers arrived, they located a deceased gunshot victim inside the residence. Witnesses stated the suspect entered the residence, shot the victim then fled possibly west on Elgie in a silver, older model SUV. The victim was identified as Billy Joe Hayes, a 57 year old Beaumont resident. The investigation is on-going. Detectives are asking anyone in the area with surveillance cameras to check footage between the hours of 11:00 p.m Friday night to 12:30 a.m. Saturday morning for anything that could be helpful in the investigation.
