Saturday August 26, 2017 at approximately 11:39 PM, Officers responded to the 3800 block of IH-10 S. in reference to a traffic crash. The investigation revealed that a 19 year old Beaumont man was operating his black Ford Mustang eastbound on IH-10 and lost control. His vehicle came to rest in the middle of the highway. Another driver stopped on the right shoulder to check on him. Shortly after that a black Ford F-150 attempted to avoid the Mustang and moved to the right.… The driver of the Mustang had exited his vehicle and was attempting to get off the freeway on foot. He was struck by the truck. Following that, another crash occurred when the driver of a black Lincoln MXZ struck the Mustang. The driver of the Lincoln was transported by EMS to St. Elizabeth where he was treated and released. The 19 year old driver of the Mustang was transported by EMS to St. Elizabeth where he was pronounced deceased.
We will release the 19 year old victim’s name tomorrow, to give family some time to notify other family and friends.
