On Monday, January 29, 2018 at 11:28 a.m, Beaumont Police responded to the 1100 block of Church Street in reference to a victim of a shooting. When officers arrived, Fire Personnel were attending to a female victim who was suffering from gun shot wounds. The victim was later transported to St. Elizabeth hospital where she succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced deceased. The victim has been identified as Lynda Barnes, a 57 year old Beaumont woman.
A witness in the area told detectives after hearing gun shots, a possible suspect was seen running south from the residence. The suspect is described as a black male, in his 30’s or 40’s, wearing a blue plaid shirt, with a short afro style haircut. Detectives are continuing to interview people who knew Ms. Barnes, as well as combing video surveillance from the area, and following multiple leads.
