Beaumont, TX March 14, 2018 –The historic Jefferson Theatre in Downtown Beaumont will be closed this summer for needed repairs.
The closure will take place in June and could last through October 2018. Repairs include the roof, ceiling, plaster, and other necessary items in addition to lobby and dressing room remodeling.
Since August 2014, the Jefferson has been home to the popular weekly Classic Movie Nights which attracted more than 2,000 movie goers in December 2017 alone. In addition to movie nights, the theatre hosts several annual festivals and concert series such as, Rocktoberfest, Boomtown Film and Music Festival, Jazz + Blue Fest, Legends at the Jefferson and many more. Attracting national acts like Pat Benatar, Dwight Yoakam, the Goo Goo Dolls, Rodney Carrington, and Bobby Bones, proves the theatre is the cornerstone for entertainment in Southeast Texas and warrants continued upgrades.
“We are excited to move forward with this project and know the outcome will be phenomenal. We have several exciting shows and a fantastic movie line-up through the Spring and will continue to welcome guests into the theatre until June,” said Director of Event Facilities, Lenny Caballero.
Bobby Bones, which sold out in less than 10 minutes in 2016 and again in 2018 will be the final major show at the theatre on May 11 before the temporary closure. The Spring Classic Movie Night lineup includes the original Cinderella, Hook, Urban Cowboy and more.
