On Thursday March 12, 2015 at approximately 3:57 am, Officers responded to an apartment in the 6500 block of Phelan in reference to an aggravated robbery that just occurred. Dispatch advised that the suspect held the victims up at gunpoint and entered the residence. The suspect was later identified as Monroe, Jamison Dwight, 31 year old Beaumont man. Monroe tied the victims up, stole the victims keys to his Gold Cadillac Deville. Officers located the vehicle in the parking lot of the Bank of America located at 265 Dowlen. The suspect was attempting to take money from the ATM using the victim’s card, at which time he noticed Officers and began to evade on foot. After a foot pursuit, Officers were able to take Monroe into custody without incident. During the pursuit, Monroe threw the weapon and other evidence relating to the crime. A K-9 Officer and his K-9 partner were notified and responded to the scene and located evidence. Monroe was arrested and transported to the Detective Division to speak with investigators. He was later booked for two counts aggravated robbery, evading arrest, felon in possession of a firearm, fail to identify-fugitive and city warrants.
